I got a chance to chat with Niecy Nash from Clean House about her life and some of the projects that she's focusing on. The host is partnering with Clorox Toilet Products to raise money for the World Toilet Organization.
For our readers that haven't seen Clean House, what do you do on the show?
We go into homes that are cluttered and a mess, pull out all the clutter, do a garage sale and re-do a room in the house with the proceeds of the sale. The name of your site is ImNotObsessed. Well, I'm obsessed with Americans living well. Being clean is a part of living well.
What's the craziest experience you've had on Clean House?
Once I went into a house and there was a 5 foot lizard on the floor and the mother was feeding the lizard dead mice. That was too much...
Any quick tips for keeping the house in shape?
Firstly, clean up as you go. Put things back where they belong when you're done using them. Secondly, use things for their intended purposes. Do not use the treadmill as a coat hanger! And lastly, use plastic, clear containers for storage so that when you're looking for things later, they're easier to find.
How do you get your kids to clean their rooms without nagging?
I say get in there and do it because I said so or I'll go on strike. All the luxuries will be taken away. I'm not taking them anywhere, no cellphones...complete strike!
What was it like to win your first Emmy in 2010?
It was absolutely delicious! I also produce Clean House so it just confirmed the hard work that's been put in.
You're single....What is it like dating with three kids?
